Welcome to our first edition of Fond du Lac News, Reviews, and Opportunities. We hope that the posts will encourage you to get more involved in the Fond du Lac community through events and opportunities that are available as well as give you more information about the area as we review different businesses, restaurants, service organizations, etc. in the Fond du Lac area. We believe Fond du Lac is a great place to live, work, and raise a family; hopefully, these posts will convince you too.

STOCK THE SHELVES: Hunger campaign goal set at $50,000 - For a second year, the Reporter, Action Advertiser, and Fond du Lac Area Foundation are teaming up to raise funds to fight hunger in the Fond du Lac community. Last year the campaign raised over $40,000, so they have upped the ante this year with a goal of $50,000. The Fond du Lac Area Foundation is collecting monetary donations. Contributions to Stock the Shelves can be mailed to 384 N. Main St., Suite 4, Fond du Lac, WI 54935. Checks should be made payable to Stock the Shelves. Credit card donations may be made by calling the Area Foundation at 921-2215. Basic American Medical Products announces FdL facility expansion - Good news on the economic front for the Fond du Lac area as Basic American Medical Products is planning on adding 40,000 square feet to their facility to house a new, state-of-the-art fiber optic laser tube cutting system. In addition to the construction jobs this will create, the facility itself will add approximately twenty new jobs to the community.

Fond du Lac crime reports go digital - "A new website allows users to monitor Fond du Lac sex offenders and view crimes in the community with the click of a mouse." Features of the new site include a complete redesign of the city website, the ability to pay parking tickets, personal property taxes, real estate taxes and water bills online, and the opportunity to watch City Council meetings. This looks like a tremendous asset to the area and one that will provide a large measure of convenience for the community.

UWFDL Honoring Vetrans - This collection of photos, poems and prose captures the effects of war on the individual. It includes a memorial to Fond du Lac area soldiers who died serving the country from the Civil War period to today. It’s open from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday at University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac, 400 University Drive. Free admission. Ends Oct. 28. In connection with this, Fond du Lac County Veterans Service Officer Rick Patton will provide a presentation on veterans benefits from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac, 400 University Drive.

Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis to Host Pancake Dinner - This is a great opportunity to support those who are working to make Fond du Lac a better place particularly for children. The Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis are hosting a Pancake Day at the St. Mary's School Gym on October 27th. Enjoy some pancakes and support a worthy cause.
