Fond du Lac News, Review, and Opportunities - October 28

I am beginning to think that I may need to offer this particular post twice a week because there always seem to be a lot to talk about in the Fond du Lac area. Here is this week's news, reviews, and opportunities:

Kudos
Following the local news this week I saw many things reported that deserve some praise from us as the citizens of Fond du Lac:

  • Windover Center. Kudos to the music department and students of North Fond du Lac High School and the Windover Center for their efforts and generosity.
  • Marian University generously donated their time and effort to cleaning up the Fond du Lac River. I am not sure where all the students were from, but on a campus as broad as Marian's it is likely that these students weren't even from Fond du Lac. A community thank you to the Criminal Justice Club as well as Whealon’s Towing, Waste Management, City of Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County Land and Water Conservation Department, Chad Cook from UW-Extension and Laura DeGolier from Parks Watch.

Significant Political/Financial News

  • Fond du Lac Solutions Center Warming Shelter - I should have mentioned this last week, but the Solutions Center Warming Shelter will open for the season on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011. Volunteers are needed to assist our staff during the night and to prepare meals for the guests. More information is coming soon. In the meantime, you can check to see what days are available on their volunteer calendar. If you can, please give of your time and energy during the winter to help those who are less fortunate in our community.

"The Nutcracker" which is being performed in Green Bay December 9 & 11.
